Tarkov BTR Driver guide

The BTR drives a set loop of stops on Woods, Streets of Tarkov and Lighthouse. The BTR Driver will drive you to another stop, send items to your stash, or give you covering fire.

Who can use the BTR?

Anyone with a Fence standing of −5 or higher. Below that, the driver won't sell you anything. Your standing with the BTR Driver himself doesn't change the prices.

Don't shoot the BTR

If you hit it, the BTR refuses you and your whole group for the rest of the raid. Explosions next to it count as hits, and the gunner turns on whoever hit it.

What the BTR Driver sells

Three things, all paid in roubles. Prices are the same in PvE and PvP, and they depend on your faction.

Taxi to another stop

Pick any other stop on the route the BTR is driving this raid. It leaves about 15 seconds after you pay and drives straight there. It waits the usual time, then carries on with its route from that stop. Nobody can book another ride until it gets there.

A ride costs 7,000 roubles plus 500 for each stop it takes you, counted the short way round the loop, so the next stop costs 7,500. USEC pay one and a half times that, and scavs pay a fifth less.

Trunk: send items to your stash

Load items into the trunk and they go to your stash, so you don't have to carry them out. It costs 500 roubles for each cell the items take up, plus one twentieth of what everything you load is worth, mods and contents included. The lowest price is 1,000.

The better your Fence standing, the bigger the trunk.

Covering fire

The gunner treats everyone in the BTR, and everyone in their groups, as friendly. The gunner fires at enemies around the BTR until the BTR reaches its next stop. You can buy covering fire once between two stops. If anyone the gunner covers shoots the BTR, the covering fire ends.

What changes the price

  • Charisma. Every level takes a little off every price. At level 50 it's a tenth off.
  • Fence standing. Good standing takes a set amount off, and bad standing adds one. The table shows how much.
  • Mark of the Unheard. Carry it and every price is halved.

How does the BTR move?

The rules are the same on all three maps. Only the timing and the routes change.

  • It shows up early in the raid

Each map has its own window, from half a minute in on Lighthouse to ten minutes in on Streets. Woods and Streets get a BTR every raid. Lighthouse gets one only in some raids.

  • It picks one route

Every raid it picks one of the map's routes at random, appears where that route starts, and drives off right away.

  • It waits at every stop

It stops at every stop on its route and waits a random time at each one. After the last stop it drives back to the first one and starts again.

  • It tells you when it leaves

About 15 seconds before it drives off, the driver says it is about to go.

  • A paid ride changes where it goes next

If anyone pays for a ride, it drives straight to the stop they picked, waits there, then carries on with its route from that stop.

  • It mostly stays all raid

On all but one route it loops until the raid ends. One Streets route can drive off the map in the last few minutes and not come back.

The BTR on each map

Each map has its own routes, stops and timing.

"Comes out at" is the raid timer, counting down. To see when the BTR gets to each stop, open the live tracker for your map and tap or hover over a stop.

BTR questions

How much does a BTR taxi ride cost in Tarkov?

As BEAR, 7,500 roubles to the next stop, and 500 more for each stop after that. USEC pay one and a half times as much, and scavs pay a fifth less. Charisma, good Fence standing and the Mark of the Unheard bring the price down.

Why won't the BTR let me use it?

Either your Fence standing is below −5, or you or someone in your group shot the BTR this raid. Shooting it locks your whole group out until the raid ends.

How big is the BTR trunk?

It depends on your Fence level: 5×2 at level 0, up to 7×4 at level 6 and higher. At very low Fence standing it shrinks to a single cell.

Which maps have the BTR in Tarkov?

Woods, Streets of Tarkov and Lighthouse.

Does the BTR always follow the same route?

No. Each map has four routes, and every raid the BTR picks one at random. It drives that route in a loop until the raid ends. The one exception is R4 on Streets, which can drive off the map in the last few minutes and not come back.

How do I find the BTR quickly?

Go to a stop that is on every route, or use the live tracker for your map. Set your raid timer and it shows where the BTR likely is on each route and when it reaches the next stop.
