There is no next wipe. Seasons replaced wipes, and joining one is up to you.

Season 1

Season 2 has no announced theme and no date. Nikita has said there are two seasons a year, and BSG’s August roadmap pencils Season 2 in for December with patch 1.4. A roadmap month is not a date, so the row stays empty until BSG names one.

Open the Kord Breach modifier planner

All 33 selectable modifiers at their live in-game point costs. It keeps a running balance, warns you about incompatible picks, and gives you a link to share the build.

Seasonal characters also compete in a weekly ranked ladder. Read how Tarkov Leagues work, including the rewards each rank pays.

01

Did Tarkov stop wiping?

Yes. The last full wipe was the 1.0 launch on 15 November 2025.

Your progress in PvP and PvE now stays for good. If you have been waiting for the next wipe to come back to the game, it is not coming.

Seasons replaced wipes. A season runs on a separate character alongside your account and never touches it. You choose whether to join. When the season ends, that character resets and your permanent profile carries on as it was.

02

What is a season?

A fresh character you choose to create, separate from your main, that lasts for one season.

You start a new character and hideout, in PvP only, with modifiers you pick at the start and cannot change later. The character has its own tasks and its own reward track.

A seasonal character has its own task line. Nothing you complete on it moves the quests on your permanent profile, and nothing you have already done there counts towards it.

Nikita has said BSG is preparing PvE-only content for later updates, including unlocks you earn in PvE that then open in PvP. He named nothing specific and gave no date.

04

How a season works, start to finish

Seven steps. You decide two of them.

  1. 01

    The season is announced

BSG publishes the theme and the modifier pool. From this point you can plan a build, and the planner is built from that pool.

  2. 02

    A pre-season event runs

An in-game event leads into the season. For Season 1 that was Blackout, which was not part of the season itself.

  3. 03

    Launch day

    Your call

You decide whether to create a seasonal character. Skipping takes nothing from your account, but that season’s rewards are gone for good once it ends.

  4. 04

    You pick your modifiers

    Your call

You start on 0 points. Negative modifiers give you points, positive ones cost points, and your balance can never drop below zero. Your picks are locked for the whole season, with no respec.

    Plan your Kord Breach build
  5. 05

    The grind

Everyone starts from nothing in a new economy. The season has its own task line and its own reward track, and it runs alongside your permanent account.

  6. 06

    Season end

The seasonal character resets. Your permanent account is untouched, and any rewards you earned stay unlocked on all of your characters.

  7. 07

A gap, then the next season

New theme, new modifier pool. Nikita has said there will be two seasons a year, that Season 2’s pool will be more dramatic and add secret and obtainable perks, and that one of the coming seasons will be soft-core and laid-back. Difficulty does not carry from one season to the next.

05

How long is a season?

Four to six months, and two seasons a year, both in BSG’s own words. Still no end date for Season 1, and we are not going to guess one.

126 days

From the in-game main-menu timer

The main menu has counted down to 7 December 2026 since launch. That is about four months, inside the window BSG published, but BSG has not put the date in any post and a client timer has been a placeholder before.

74 days

From a season-timer screenshot

Every “74 days” claim online traces back to this screenshot of an internal build. It is not a stated commitment, and at under two and a half months it is shorter than the window BSG has since published.

The 1.1.0.0 patch notes say it directly: a seasonal character’s progression resets every four to six months, with the release of a major content update and the start of the next season. That tells you how often a season resets, not when this one ends. It is the first length BSG has committed to in writing.

Nikita has since said there will be two seasons every year, and BSG’s August roadmap puts Season 2 with patch 1.4 in December. Read together, that points at the short end of the window for Kord Breach: about four months from a 3 August start.

What is still missing is an end date stated by BSG. The in-game timer points at 7 December, and a roadmap month for the next patch is not a date, so there can be a gap between one season closing and the next opening. The moment BSG announces a date, it appears here.

What carries over

Direction is what trips people up. Progress moves into a season from Arena. Rewards move out of a season to every character you own. Items never move out into Arena.

In

Arena Seasonal character

What your existing account contributes to a seasonal character.

Confirmed unless marked

  • Only PMC progression and trader reputation earned after the season starts transfer into it. Anything from before the start does not.
  • The full list: PMC experience, skill and weapon mastery experience, trader reputation with the trade offers it unlocked, and your unlocked tactical clothing.

Out

Seasonal character Every character you own

The section most coverage misses. Rewards are not confined to the season.

Confirmed unless marked

  • Seasonal rewards are earned by reaching a PMC level, completing a specified task, or completing a task chain. Once earned they are permanently available to all of your characters, seasonal and permanent alike.
  • Those rewards are not only cosmetics. Season 1 includes trade offers for Black Division equipment, which are permanent unlocks on your main account.
  • The deadline is real. Any seasonal reward still locked when the season ends becomes permanently unobtainable, while anything already unlocked stays on the account for good.
  • Rewards are the only thing that travels. Asked directly whether experience or items could move to a permanent character at the end of a season, Nikita answered no.
  • OpenWhether achievements earned on a seasonal character show on your main account. We expect they will, but BSG has not said so.

Never

Seasonal character Arena

The direction that does not exist, stated rather than left out.

Confirmed unless marked

  • Items and character progress do not move out of the season into Arena. There is no transfer in that direction.
  • Seasonal characters reset at season end. Your permanent PMC, stash, hideout and Kappa are unaffected either way.

Skipping a season takes nothing away from you. It does cost you the rewards. BSG has said that any seasonal reward still locked when the season ends can never be earned afterwards, and for Season 1 those rewards include trade offers on your permanent account. Decide with that in mind.

07

Modifiers and the point budget

At the start of a season you build your character out of modifiers. You start on 0 points. Negative modifiers give you points, positive ones cost points, and your balance can never drop below zero.

Six more modifiers apply to every seasonal character automatically, and you cannot turn them off. The picks you make yourself are locked for the whole season, with no respec.

08

How Arena feeds a season

Arena has one character per account, with no PvP, PvE or seasonal version of it. Arena already sends its progress one way to your PvP profile and to your PvE profile. A season adds a third destination. XP, skill XP and mastery that you earn in Arena after the season starts go to your seasonal PMC and to the other two profiles, each in full, not split three ways. Currency and item transfers have a separate limit per mode, and the seasonal limit is the lowest. The list below says what transfers and what does not.

Confirmed unless marked

  • Arena progression feeds the seasonal character: XP, skill XP and mastery transfer in.
  • Trader reputation is linked through Ref.
  • Some Ref tasks that send you into Arena are unavailable on a seasonal character.
  • Currency, GP Coins, Lega Medals and gear crates transfer once you have completed Jack of All Trades, at lower limits than standard PvP.
  • Tactical clothing syncs between Tarkov and Arena in both directions. Unlock it in one and it appears in the other. Clothing bought from Ragman is also permanently unlocked on your account now, so creating a seasonal character no longer means buying it again.
  • BSG capped this route: the transfer limit for currency and items into a seasonal character is lower than the PvP Zone limit.
  • ReportedTarkov and Arena syncing has been unreliable in the past. Check anything that depends on it yourself at launch.

09

Battle pass and rewards

BSG brands it the Kord Breach Battle Pass, but it runs in every mode with shared progression. The season’s own rewards are the separate track.

Confirmed unless marked

  • The Battle Pass is free, and every reward on it can be earned through normal gameplay.
  • It runs in all three modes, Seasonal, PvP and PvE, and its progression and rewards are shared between them. You do not have to join the season to play it.
  • You progress it by finding TerraGroup documentation in raids, as either a PMC or a Scav, in any mode. It is a new loot type that behaves like a task item.
  • Documentation that spawns in a raid is personal to you. Nobody else can take it before you do, or loot it from your PMC’s body. Documentation carried by Black Division operatives is the exception and is shared among all players.
  • Raids are not the only source. Documents also come from completing the Kord Breach task line and from killing certain Black Division operatives.
  • There is a daily limit on how much documentation you can find in raids. The limit depends on the mode you play, but the count towards it is shared across all modes, so switching mode does not reset it.
  • The current limits are 30 documents a day on a seasonal character, 20 in permanent PvP and 15 in PvE. A balancing pass raised them from 25, 15 and 10. The 24 hours run from the moment your first document leaves a raid, not from a fixed server hour.
  • Documentation comes in several types, each tied to particular locations: one type is found on Streets of Tarkov and Customs, another on Factory and The Lab.
  • Each location holds 14 documents, and Factory holds 10. The same balancing pass raised both.
  • A reward unlocks once the required number of documents is present in your inventory in any one mode, and it then becomes available in all of them at once.
  • ReportedDocuments do not pool across modes. They are ordinary items sitting in one profile’s inventory, so four found in PvE and four found in PvP are not eight towards anything. Collect for a given reward inside one mode.
  • ReportedUnspent documents go when the profile does. A season ending, or a profile reset for Prestige, takes any you are still carrying. Rewards you already unlocked are permanent and are not affected. Spend your documents before a reset instead of holding them through one.
  • Classified documents are a universal type that stands in for any other. They are the one part of the pass you can pay for, bought with TarCoins in the Expansion Hub.
  • The season’s own rewards are separate from the Battle Pass: they come from level milestones and the seasonal task line, and they carry to every character you own.
  • OpenWhether documents will also come from weekly tasks. Asked about adding them to daily or weekly task rewards, Nikita said BSG would like to, and that it would most likely be the weekly ones.

10

Common questions

Does Tarkov still wipe?

No. The last full wipe was the 1.0 launch on 15 November 2025. Progress on your permanent PvP and PvE profiles now stays for good. Seasons replaced wipes. A season runs on a separate character you choose to create, and it never resets the account you already have.

When is the next Tarkov wipe?

There is not one. Full account wipes ended with the 1.0 launch in November 2025. If you want the fresh start a wipe used to give, that is now the seasonal character. Everyone starts from nothing together, on a profile separate from your main.

What is a Tarkov season?

A fresh, time-limited character you choose to create, separate from your main. You start a new character and hideout, in PvP only, with modifiers you pick at the start and cannot change. It has its own tasks and its own reward track, and it is closest to a Path of Exile league.

Do I have to play the season?

No. Skipping a season takes nothing from you, and your main account plays exactly as before. What you give up is the rewards. BSG has said that any seasonal reward left locked when the season ends can never be earned, and for Season 1 those include trade offers for Black Division equipment on your main.

Will a season wipe my main account?

No. Seasonal characters are entirely separate from your permanent PvP and PvE profiles. Your PMC, stash, hideout, trader progress and Kappa stay untouched while a season runs and after it ends, whether or not you ever create a seasonal character.

How long does a Tarkov season last?

Four to six months. The 1.1.0.0 patch notes state that a seasonal character’s progression resets on that schedule, alongside a major content update. BSG has not stated an end date for any individual season. The in-game main menu counts down to 7 December 2026, which is inside that window, but BSG has not put the date in writing.

Is there a PvE season?

No. Seasons are PvP only. BSG has announced a separate Prestige system for PvE, but it has not shipped yet. If you only play PvE, seasons change nothing about your game beyond the patch that shipped alongside the first one.

Can I play with my permanent character against seasonal players?

No. Seasonal and permanent PvP characters sit in separate matchmaking pools. A seasonal raid contains only seasonal characters. That is what makes a fresh economy possible: nobody drops in wearing gear from a level 60 account.

What happens to my seasonal character when the season ends?

It resets. The character, its stash and its progression do not carry forward. Rewards you earned during the season do carry. Once unlocked they are permanently available on all of your characters, including your permanent PMC.

Do seasonal rewards transfer to my main account?

Yes. BSG has stated that rewards you earn by reaching level milestones or completing the seasonal task line become permanently available to all of your characters, seasonal and permanent. Season 1 rewards include trade offers for Black Division equipment, which are permanent gameplay unlocks.

Does playing Arena help my seasonal character?

Yes. XP, skill XP and weapon mastery XP transfer in, and trader reputation is linked through Ref. Currency, GP Coins, Lega Medals and gear crates transfer once you have completed Jack of All Trades, at lower limits than standard PvP. Nothing transfers in the other direction.

Is Arena XP split between my PvP, PvE and seasonal characters?

No. You have one Arena character, and Arena already sends its progress one way to your PvP profile and to your PvE profile. The season is a third destination. 10,000 PMC XP earned in Arena after the season starts goes to your PvP, PvE and seasonal PMCs, each in full. The seasonal character ignores only what you earned before the season started. Currency and item transfers have a separate limit per mode, and the seasonal limit is the lowest.

Can I change my modifiers during the season?

No. Nikita has stated that modifier picks are locked for the whole season, and there is no respec. You get one shot at the opening choice, so plan the full build before you confirm anything.

Is the Tarkov Battle Pass free?

Yes. You can earn every reward on it through normal gameplay. It runs in Seasonal, PvP and PvE with progression shared between them, so you do not have to join the season to play it. The one thing you can pay for is Classified documents, which stand in for any document type you are short of.

Is Battle Pass progress shared between PvP and PvE?

The progress is. The documents are not. The pass tracks one set of rewards across Seasonal, PvP and PvE, and unlocking a reward in any mode unlocks it in all of them. The documents you hand in are items in that profile’s inventory, so a partial pile in PvE does not add to a partial pile in PvP.

How many seasons per year are there?

Two. Nikita has stated it directly, and BSG’s August roadmap places Season 2 in December with patch 1.4. Set against the four to six month reset in the 1.1.0.0 patch notes, that puts Kord Breach near the short end of the window. Each season has its own theme, its own modifier pool and its own reward track, so the modifiers you plan around change every season.
